When I met Josh Cobb at Social Media Marketing World in 2015, I never thought that two years later I’d be interviewing the 2017 Brisbane Entrepreneur of the Year (Marketing & Events) about how to build a business.
Josh began his company, Stepps, with nothing more than a podcast microphone and a bucket load of enthusiasm. Three years later, it’s Australia’s leading digital marketing training provider for the real estate sector.
In today’s episode of Be The Drop, we take a trip down memory lane, discuss the huge value of owned data (like your website and email), and Josh reveals the story of how Michelin tyres became Michelin stars…
“Provide value to people without expecting anything back. It will be returned to you ten-fold.”
Listen to this episode to hear Josh’s top tips on how to build a business (share this on Facebook!):
In this episode you will learn:
- How to build a valuable service offering based on feedback
- The time it takes for customers to move through the sales funnel
- The value of face to face communication in a digital world
- The importance of mastering focus – try reading The One Thing
“Think globally. Get outside your comfort zone. You never know where it will take you.”
I loved meeting up with Josh again after all this time. Funny how we think so alike. The importance of face to face relationship building, for example, and about playing the long game rather than scrambling to make a quick buck. It’s not about generating more buyers tomorrow, in the blink of an eye. It’s about building solid foundations for a profitable, lasting business.
I can’t wait for the next installment of Be The Drop, to bring you more insights into the power of business storytelling. Everything we discussed in this episode makes sense to me. But does it makes sense to you? I’d love to hear your comments!
