Artificial intelligence fascinates me personally and professionally. From social media algorithms and facial recognition technology to messenger bots, the future of AI is here.

My guest this week, Matthew Michalewicz was “born into it”. The son of an AI scientist, who has written several books on the subject, six year old Matthew spent time after school at the university where his father worked.  The family would even attend artificial intelligence conferences while on holiday!

Serial entrepreneur Matthew began his first AI business 20 years ago, when few understood the term. In today’s episode of Be The Drop, Matthew tells me about his current AI venture Complexica, we discuss the evolution of artificial intelligence, and he reveals whose jobs are most likely to be automated in the future…

“Everyone today has heard of AI but I actually grew up with it.”

Listen now to this podcast episode to get Matthew’s fascinating insights into the future of AI (share this on Facebook!):

In this episode you will learn:

  • The history of artificial intelligence from WWII to today
  • About the two areas of AI – General and Specific
  • The fascinating capabilities of Complexica’s algorithm “Larry”
  • How algorithms work; evaluating data to arrive at conclusions
  • Matthew’s predictions for the future of real, human-like AI

“For a million years we lived in caves and didn’t do much. Then in a short time we grew to almost 7 billion. AI is the same.”

It was such an absolute pleasure to chat to Matthew about the past, present and future of AI. Both exciting and a little sinister, one thing’s for sure; the value of human to human connection will continue to increase as human to machine interaction becomes more common. For individual workers and for businesses, the ability to add value and be inventive is becoming more important than ever.
