The internet of things has made data an important commodity, but there is increasing distrust in how our data is used and managed. Blockchain, a practice of decentralising data, and creating rules around how we access, record, and use data underpins a monumental shift in the use of technology, and the trust we put in the keepers who hold our private information.

Katrina Donaghy is the Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Civic Ledger, a technology startup that provides Blockchain solutions for the public sector. Having spent several years learning the technology, and being involved in multiple successful startups, Katrin is considered an industry expert in blockchain by the likes of RMIT University.

In today’s episode of Be The Drop, Katrina discusses how Blockchain could revolutionise services in government, how we use banking, and our interactions with artificial intelligence. With a background in sociology, Katrina provides a human perspective, instead of purely focusing on the technology because at the end of the day, it’s how humans engage with and govern blockchains that will have the greatest impact.
